Ok fellow Blogger/Blogspot users, what is up with the formatting issues I'm having? For some reason most of my posts come out with extra spaces or none at all between paragraphs, especially when I add a picture into the mix. How can I eliminate this problem?
It just kills my OCD when it posts that way and then I can't fix it, knowing that people are seeing it that way. Sometimes I can go back the next day and fix it up, but not always (and again, it bugs the crap out of me knowing that people have seen it already badly formatted). Thanks!

Fashion statement
Embarrassment is good for us every once in a while, right? Let's talk about this scenario with a little equation:
blue fleece snowflake pajama pants
blue fleece snowflake pajama pants
+ sock monkey slippers
+ grey waffle knit top
+ tan fleece pullover
+ frizzy, windblown, rained-on hair
+ 9pm Sunday night
+ landlord knocking on our door with cute, young couple looking to rent upstairs apartment in June
= welcome to the neighborhood!...?
Eek. Not one of my finer moments. Hopefully, our new upstairs tenants don't think I always look that disheveled (believe me, it might not sound that bad, but if you saw the clothing pieces together in one outfit...and let's not even get started on what my hair is capable of when not properly groomed [ask my high school friends or college roommate about the times I've blow-dried and brushed out my hair for them]). Gotta love how when I apologized for my outfit my landlord said, "It's ok, this was impromptu." As if also apologizing for my unruly appearance (and hoping it would not cause him to lose out on some future renters).
I'm the girl who usually matches even her pajamas. Go figure the one day I seemed to give myself freedom from my OCD-ness, I would be making an important first impression. I should have never walked over to the door without question after Col called, "Babe, come here for a minute!"

Cherished surprise
This morning I drew back the shower curtain and to my surprise I saw...
...a bottle with rolled up paper in it, and a few inches of water in the bottom of the tub. Nearby on the shower stand, there was a plastic bag full of air with a rubberband around it. Being married to a teacher, I reluctantly decided that I had to wake Col up to ask him what it was in case I were to ruin some sort of experiment or lesson for class. As if he were waiting for me, he was awake when I walked in the room and answered my question with a silly smile and a shrug.
Confused and curious, I headed back into the bathroom, picked up the bottle and unrolled the paper inside. My not-so-mushy-gushy husband had written a beautiful, heartfelt message in a bottle about this past year of our marriage and our future together. Talk about making a girl's day, week, month, and year! Happy anniversary to me, all thanks to my thoughtful husband who did in fact have a few tricks up his sleeve :) The paper anniversary is pretty darn good, I would say!

1 year anniversary!
Today, April 16th, marks our one year anniversary! It's amazing that only a year ago I was getting primped, dressed, and ready to then walk down the aisle, marry the love of my life, and enjoy a fun, lively reception with family and friends. I had always dreamed of being a Mrs., which then specified into becoming a Mrs. Leathersich. Our wedding day was the best day of my life, and multiple times I have asked Col if we could do the whole day again, over and over and endlessly over. While that's not possible, I do get to relive the day as many times as I want through memory, pictures, and our video, and even more importantly, I get to enjoy every day of the rest of my life married to my Mr.
Since the 16th was on a Monday this year, thanks to leap year and the general passing of days associated with our handy dandy calendar system, I had to re-join society after vacation and go to work. After a pretty decent day (hooray!), I got to enjoy making dinner with the hubby and opening the various cards sent to us from loving family and friends. Since I was too excited to wait any longer, I gave Col his gift. The first anniversary is represented by paper, and after a recent conversation where we sheepishly admitted that neither of us has the verses that are engraved on our rings memorized, I came up with this:
I got to enjoy a handwritten love poem from Col which stated:
"Roses are red, violets are blue,
I didn't have money, or I would have bought some for you"
It included a beautifully drawn rose. Not only that, but my treat was going out for ice cream! We headed to a newly opened place in Irondequoit called Indulge, where we both enjoyed the deliciousness that comes from all things ice and cream. We came back home, wrote down and shared the 10 things we love about each other (thanks to my roomie for giving it to us to do!), and enjoyed some sparkling grape juice with a ceremonial taste of our saved wedding cake (which wasn't that bad actually). The entire evening was a wonderful, relaxing time with my one and only, and the best way to spend our 1st anniversary!

Anniversary weekend staycation
Since I first discovered the Inn on Broadway, I've always wanted to go there. While it wasn't feasible to stay there on our wedding night, Col randomly heard about a chance to bid on a weekend package. So, last summer, we "won" a 2-night stay and $100 gift certificate to their restaurant Tournedos, and all at a discount of 67%!
What better time to use it than to celebrate our one year anni?! After waking up on Friday afternoon after our drive home from Disney, we re-packed and headed to our weekend staycation. Having never done a staycation, I was nervous that we'd be bored or that it would be weird to stay in our own city of residence, but we had a blast!
The Inn is gorgeous and we were treated to a large room with a gas fireplace. Our first night there we ate at their restaurant and were able to treat ourselves to a fancy dinner (thanks to the gift certificate!). It was delicious!
Saturday, after a breakfast at the Inn, we pretended to be tourists and walked to the George Eastman House which surprisingly, neither of us has seen in its entirety. After our tour we enjoyed a walk to Park Ave., where we ate a late lunch at Classy Cookie. We headed back to our hotel to relax before walking to the Knighthawks game, which they won! That evening we enjoyed reliving our wedding day by watching our wedding DVD.
Sunday we attended the late service at church, and after a brief stop, headed off to the High Falls area to tour their museum and take the walking tour, which concluded our weekend.
Doubtful before, but no more. Staycations rock! We had so much fun touring some of the wonderful attractions in our city. And the Inn was everything and more. What a perfect weekend to celebrate our 1st anniversary!

Disney family vaca
This past week we were blessed to enjoy a fabulous family vaca in Disney! Thanks to two awesome co-workers, I was able to get out of work early on Friday, therefore jump-starting our 19-hour drive by a few hours. Yes, that's right, Col, my in-laws, and myself drove straight through overnight to Orlando. Surprisingly, it wasn't bad at all, and we arrived around 8:30am Saturday morning, where we were able to see my sister- and brother-in-law and our niece much earlier than expected!
The trip was both fun and exhausting, and we had a great time watching our 2 1/2 year old niece enjoy every minute. She was thrilled, elated, and every other similar emotion every time she got to see one of the characters and she had a great time on the rides.
Us "grown-ups" had a blast riding all the rides, and enjoying the parades, shows, and fireworks. We hit up all four parks, Downtown Disney, and the Boardwalk. We did everything there was to do! And amidst it all, I was reminded at how blessed I am to have Colin as my husband. I told him that I loved how easy it was to travel with him and that we both had the same thoughts for how to spend our time (except for the Tower of Terror...that is one ride that I must ride without him).

Thursday morning bright and early we embarked on our long drive back home after a goodbye from our niece as she got ready to fly on an airplane again with her parents. We made it through all of our driving shifts and arrived back home in the middle of the night safe, sound, and ready for bed!
I love vacations! Mucho thanks to those who made it possible! :) You're never too old for Disney World!
